Anna Margaret Claassen, 87, of McPherson died Tuesday (Nov. 28, 2006) at The
Cedars in McPherson.
She was born
June 7, 1919, in Beatrice, Neb., to Peter and Agatha (Harms) Reimer. On May 31,
1946, she married Arnold Claassen in Beatrice. He preceded her in death Sept.
6, 2003. She was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton and the Gideons
Ladies Auxiliary.
Anna
Margaret was a graduate of the University of Nebraska and taught elementary
school at Sunset Elementary in Newton for 17 years. She greatly enjoyed reading
and looked forward to spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors
include: sons, Timothy Claassen of Newton and Samuel Claassen of McPherson;
daughter, Marjorie Warkentine of Wichita; brother, Arnold Reimer of Beatrice;
sisters-in-law, Gertrude Claassen and Katie Claassen, both of Beatrice; and six
grandchildren.
She also was
preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation
will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with family
receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral
service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Mennonite Church in Newton with
Pastor Clarence Rempel of the church officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood
Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial
contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, First Mennonite
Church and Children's Library in care of the funeral home.
