Kenneth Smith
HALSTEAD – Kenneth L. Smith, 84,
farmer and minister, died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Moundridge Manor,
Moundridge. He was born, Oct. 2, 1931, at Halstead, to Enoch and
Susie (Schmidt) Buller.
Following his parents passing he was
adopted by Lloyd and Amanda Mae (Johnson) Smith. He was a member and
minister of Grace Mennonite Church, Halstead.
On May 6, 1951, he married Ruth M.
Dirks at Halstead. She preceded him in death April 1, 2016. Survivors
include: son, Steve Smith (Sherry), Halstead; daughters, Cheris Koehn
(Raleigh), Halstead, Gaylene Koehn (Charles), Texline, Texas, Alice
Unruh (Michael), Gentry, Ark.; brother, Larry Smith (Linda), Burns;
17 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in
death by a brother, Clarence Buller and sisters, Irene Becker and
Virgie Mae Buller.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m.
Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead. Visitation
will follow from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Grace Mennonite Church,
Halstead. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at
Grace Mennonite Church, with Ministers Marlin Unruh, Dean Becker and
Charles Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery,
Halstead. Memorials may be given to Grace Mennonite Church, in care
of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
