Southern, Audrey M

The Newton Kansan

Audrey M. Southern, 75, died Monday (Dec. 11, 2006) at Van Buren County Hospital in Keoesaqua, Iowa.

She married Edward Southern Jr. on Dec. 29, 1947, in Dayton, Ind. He died on June 2, 1980. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Relief Society of the church and the Eastern Star. She was a cook at Newton Presbyterian Manor. She enjoyed sewing, reading, going to races, baby-sitting with her grandchildren and being with her family.

Survivors include: a son, Adrian and Rebecca Southern of Ollie, Iowa; daughters, Louise and Charles (Southern) Franklin of Farmington, Iowa; daughter, Teri and Roy (Southern) Regier of Newton; brother, Adrian and Luberta McCulloch of Newton; several nieces and nephews; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by father, Charles G. McCulloch; mother, Louise (Akers) McCulloch; sons, Edward C. Southern; and sisters, Wilma Doris Southern and Joyce Elaine Southern.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
