John Edward Charlet
John Edward Charlet, 79, died
Wednesday (Dec. 13, 2006) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. He was born Oct.
16, 1927, in Kinsley to Edward and Faith (Sumney) Charlet. On March 9, 1950, he
married Winifred Von Morris. She preceded him in death. John was a retired
minister and also helped out on the family farm. He and his wife were active in
First Christian Church of Newton as long as their health would allow. He also
served his country in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his cousin, Don Riggs of
Newton; nephew, Kelly Daugherty of Rock Port, Mo.; and nieces, Carol Mirabal of
Tucson, Ariz., and Mary Hudson of Rock Port, Mo.
He was preceded in death by
his wife, Winifred Charlet; parents Edward and Faith (Sumney) Charlet; and
sister, Rosella Charlet.
Graveside service will be at
2 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton with Chaplain Denney Bell of
Kansas Christian Home officiating.
Visitation will be from 9
a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.

home.
