Elva L.
(Schertz) Johnson, 78, died Monday (April 2, 2007) at Asbury Park in Newton.
She was born
on Jan. 5, 1929, to Lillian C. (Heine) and Jesse F. Schertz in Walton. She
married William E. Johnson on Nov. 12, 1950, at the First United Methodist
Church in Newton. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1995. She had worked at
the JM McDonald company for sometime. She was later employed as a financial
representative with Intrust, retiring in 1993. She attended the First
Missionary Church of Newton and held a previous membership with the Walton
United Methodist Church in Walton. She enjoyed her friends and their coffee
groups and was part of the local Red Hat Society.
Survivors
include a daughter, Janet (Johnson) Fish of Valley Center; a son, William P.
Johnson and wife Rosemary of Las Vegas; and granddaughter, Karrah Fish of
Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Rosemary Schmidt of Newton.
She was
preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Geneva Eilerts and Darlene
Hawkey.
Service will
be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Newton with
Pastor Ray Adams officiating. Burial will be at Walton Cemetery in Walton.

may be sent to American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Foundation in care
of the funeral home.
