Doris (June)
Walker, 82, died Friday (April 6, 2007) at Hillside Village in De Soto.
She was born
on March 15, 1925, in Spring Hill to John Allen and Jessie (Cooper) Hiatt. They
preceded her in death. On April 29, 1944, she married Alvin Wendell Walker in
Kansas City. He preceded her in death in 1963. She was a member of First
Presbyterian Church of Newton. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She also
enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking for her friends and family.
Survivors
also include daughter, Cheryl and Ed. D. Heier of Great Bend; daughter, Karen
Quiring of Hutchinson; daughter, Joyce Walker of Lenexa; a sister, Bonnie Henry
of Humansville Mo.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was
preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Hiatt, a sister, Dorothy Neff, a sister,
Gertude Broocherd, a son, Jay A. Walker and a daughter, Patrica Lynn Moore.
Visitation
will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with
family present prior to the funeral service.
Service will
be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Peter
Hartman officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials
may be made to Hospice in care of the funeral home.
