Puttroff, John M

John M. Puttroff the son of Fred M. and Lucille Puttroff was born in Newton Kansas May 31, 1917 recieived his education at the Newton schools and graduated from Newton High School in 1935, after graduating he attended Bethel College.

He joined the National Guard in 1935 and was a member continuously until they mobilized in 1940. He went with Co. F to Camp Robinson in Arkansas as a First Sergeant and later was sent to Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning Georga, he recieved his commission in August 1942. He was sent overseas with the 30th Division in February 1944 and remained in England until June 20. 1944, He was killed instantly near Cherbourg, Normandy. His final resting place is in a military cemetery near Isigny, France.

He is survived by his wife Bernice Draut of Kinsley, a son, parents, one sister and a brother.
