Nellie A. Reed
Sedan – Nellie A. Reed, age 66, of
Wichita, Kanas (formerly of Elgin, Kansas) passed away Saturday, May
6, 2017 at her home in Wichita, Kansas.
Nellie was born June 29, 1950 in Rural
Osage County, Oklahoma to Everett Wayne Wood and Velma Ada (Jacobus)
Wood. She grew up in the Elgin area and graduated from Sedan High
School in 1969. She then attended Brigham Young University in Provo,
Utah.
On February 27, 1976 in Provo, Utah she
was united in marriage with John Irvin Reed. They lived in Utah for 1
½ years before moving to Canada where they lived for two years
before moving to Kansas. They lived 4 years near Elgin, KS before
moving several times finally settling in Walton, Kansas. They lived
in Walton, KS for fifteen years before moving to Wichita where they
have lived for the past 2 ½ years.
Nellie was a member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she loved taking care of her
family, and collecting over 300 cookbooks.
Nellie is survived by her husband; John
Reed of the home in Wichita, Kansas; one daughter, Sarah Reed of
Wichita, Kansas; two sons, James Reed of Wichita, Kansas and David
Reed of Newton, Kansas; three brothers; Walter Wood of Tulsa,
Oklahoma, George Wood of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and Albert Wood of
Ulysses, Kansas; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her
parents and one brother.
Graveside services will be held
Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin,
Kansas with Bishop Michael Chavez of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints officiating.
A Memorial Service will be held on May
13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints located at 401 N. Westlink Avenue, Wichita, KS 67212.
