Woods, Alfred Lee

Alfred Lee Woods was the 3rd child and first son of Mordie Lee Woods Sr and Minnie Maude (Pettigrew) Woods. He graduated from Newton HS, Newton,KS in 1929. Arthur married Clara Lily Guentert 1 Jun 1935 in Newton, Harvey Co., Kansas. They would have 4 children: Roselind, Alden, Ken, and Pam Woods. One of the business he was involved with was the Woods-Beeton Decal company in Wichita, Kansas - the company manufactured silk-screened decals for various companies. Alfred enjoyed photography and became a well known telescope maker. And he has an asteroid named after him. Also he enjoyed traveling across the country to see family and friends and attend gatherings of his telescoped interested friends. Late in life he would keep in touch via the computer. When Alfred died he was survived by one sister, Martha (Woods) Dirks, and his children, and grandchildren. Another sister, Maude Alice (Woods) French, died 9 days earlier in Massachusetts. Arthur will be missed by many.
