Melvin
Gottschalk
WICHITA -
Melvin Gottschalk, 73, died Saturday (March 31, 2007) at his residence in
Wichita.
He was born
on July 20, 1933 in Liebenthal to Wendelin and Monica (Depperschmidt)
Gottschalk. He was a roofer all of his life. He enjoyed gardening and
woodworking. He married Shirley Malek on Nov. 22, 1952 in McPherson. She is the
mother of his children and survives him.
Survivors
include daughters, Diana Montgomery of Kirkland, Ariz.; Nancy Homewood of
Sedgwick; Linda Lanham of Newton; a son, Danny Gottschalk ,Lassley of Newton;
brother, Virgil Gottschalk and family of Wichita; sister, Wilma and Martin
Baier and family; brother, Valentine and Josepine Gottschalk of Wichita;
brother, Wayne Gottschalk and family of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister,
Carlotta Gottschalk of Wichita; sister Carol Gottschalk of Wichita; 10
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, a son, Steve Gottschalk and a brother, Alvin
Gottshalk.
Visitation
will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with
family present after the rosary until 8 p.m.
Recitation
of the holy rosary will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel
in Newton.
Service will
be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church in Newton with the Rev. Jim Mainzer
officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

may be sent to St. Mary's Catholic School in care of the funeral home.
