Catherine V.
Johnson, 105, died Monday (April 23, 2007) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
She was born
on July 13, 1901, in Newton to Sadie (Coulter) and James Perry Norton. They
both preceded her in death. She attended school in Newton and graduated from
Newton High School in 1921. On June 16, 1925 she married Clifford Johnson in
Perry, Okla. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the First United
Methodist Church, the Themain Club, Button Club, Women's Relief Corps (W.R.C.)
and the Order of Eastern Star No. 5 all of Newton. She was a homemaker most of
her life.
Survivors
include sons, James K. Johnson of Newton; Jack K. Johnson of Wichita;
granddaughters, Sherri Desjardins of Eules, Texas; Lisa White of Eules, Texas;
a grandsons, James R. and Scott A. Johnson of Valley Center;
great-grandchildren, April and Chad; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She also was
preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Raphael Mulholland.
A graveside
service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery with Chaplain Denny
Bell officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorial may
be made to Kansas Christian Home in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
