Vernon
Hazelwood, 82, died Thursday (April 26, 2007) at Newton Medical Center in
Newton.
He was born
on June 24, 1924, in Fall City, Neb. to Clarence and Myrtle (Peck) Hazelwood.
On Jan. 22, 1948, he married Marjorie Ann Babb in Falls City, Neb. She survives
at home. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton. He
served his country during World War II and the Korean War in the United States
Navy. He was a member of the Newton VFW and American Legion Posts. He retired
from a career in sales and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors
include daughters, Sally Phillips of Newton and Nancy and David Klaus of Falls
City, Neb.; sons, Dan and Billie Hazelwood of Lincoln, Neb.; Tom Hazelwood of
Phoenix, Ariz. Jim and Renee Hazelwood of Aurora, Colo. and nine grandchildren.
He also was
preceded in death by a daughter, Kari Calloway.
Visitation
will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
Recitation
of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
Service will
be at 8 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton with
the Rev. Floyd McKinney officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at
Catholic Cemetery in Falls City, Neb.

may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in care of the funeral
home.
