Hattle E.
Beeson, 93, died Wednesday (April 25, 2007) at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice/St.
Francis of Wichita.
She was born
on Nov. 2, 1913, in rural Newton to Ford L. and Malinda (Altman) Perkins. They
preceded her in death. She attended schools in Newton and graduated from Newton
High in 1931. On Jan. 3, 1942, in Newton she married Samuel C. Young. He died
Nov. 19, 1947. On Jan. 17, 1950, she married Frank A. Beeson. He died Sept. 13,
1953.
She was a
retired secretary for numerous Newton business and professional firms. She was
a 60 plus year member of Newton Business and Professional Women's Club and
Professional Secretaries International where she participated on the local and
national levels. In 1959 she earned recognition of Certified Professional
Secretary. She was Newton's BPW/Kansas Parliamentarian in 1987 and 1988 and Newton's
BPW Woman of the Year in 1990 in the business and professional category. She
was a member of Newton OES and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member
of the First Christian Church in Newton for 75 years, where she taught Sunday
school, and held numerous offices in Christian Women's Fellowship, the church
board and the Kansas Christian Home Auxiliary. She enjoyed missions and held
many leadership roles at KCH.
Survivors
include daughters, Patricia A. (Beeson) Meacham, Donna M. (Beeson) Gottas;
granddaughter, Sherry and Dave Kriegshauser; grandson, Frank and Susan Meacham;
granddaughters, Kim and Norman Eudaily, Peggy and Rick Gnehm, Kristy and Scott
Furrow, Susan and Fred Reynolds, and Carol and Kirby Vicent; grandson, Andy and
Heidi Gottas; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and
nieces and nephews.
She was
precede in death by a daughter, Dr. Margaret E. Beeson; brothers, Charles A.,
Samuel O. and Lawrence A. Perkins; a sister, Lida O. Whittle; and a son-in-law,
Eddy G. Meacham.
Visitation
will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in
Newton with family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Service will
be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Newton Christian Church in Newton with the Rev. Gary
Bell officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
