Herbert H. Unruh
Herbert H. Unruh, 100, died
Friday (Dec. 2, 2005) at Newton Medical Center. He was born June 11, 1905, in
Major County, Okla., to Henry and Anna (Jost) Unruh. His parents preceded him
in death. Herbert accepted Christ in his life and was baptized in 1928 in
Coldwater, Texas. He was a founding member of Koerner Heights Mennonite
Brethren Church in Newton. He married Alma Reimer Aug. 14, 1926, in Balko,
Okla. She preceded him in death July 24, 1988. He enjoyed spending time
traveling with his wife. He worked as a dairyman in the panhandle of Oklahoma
before working for Girden Industries in Newton.
Survivors include: a son, the
Rev. Kenneth Unruh of Mountain Lake, Minn.; a daughter, Shirley Hiebert of
Olathe; a brother, Bill Karber of Marlow, Okla.; a sister, Clara Loewen of
Montezuma; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four
step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home, with family greeting friends from 6:30
to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be 10
a.m. Tuesday at Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren with Pastor
Mark Isaac of the church officiating.
Burial will be in Restlawn
Gardens of Memory in Newton.
