Edith H. Schroeder
Edith H. Schroeder, 96, died
Thursday (Dec. 8, 2005) at Friendly Acres Retirement Community in Newton. She
was born March 12, 1909, to Peter and Margaretha (Schmidt) Schroeder in
McPherson County. They preceded her in death. She was a member of First
Mennonite Church in Newton. Edith worked as a secretary for A.O.U.W. insurance
company and retired as a stenographer for the Newton yard train master of the
Santa Fe Railroad. She was a member of the Junior Themian Club. Edith
enjoyed spending time
socializing and traveling with her friends. She especially looked forward to
trips to Colorado. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.
Survivors include: a nephew,
Thomas Schroeder of Wichita; a niece, Nancy Hark of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a
sister, Hulda Schroeder of San Bernadino, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Margaret
Schroeder of Newton; and grand-nephews, Ryan Schroeder and Weston Schroeder,
both of Kansas City, Mo.
She also was preceded in
death by a brother, Allison Schroeder.
Graveside service will be 10
a.m. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Clarence Rempel of First Mennonite
Church officiating.
Memorials have been
established with First Mennonite Church in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
