Margaret Louise Zaring 1920 - 2002 YATES CENTER - Margaret Louise Zaring, 82, Yates Center, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at her daughter's home in Yates Center. She was born Jan. 23, 1920, in Newton, the daughter of Edward and Mary Boeger Hartenberger.She graduated from Newton High School in 1938.During World War II she worked at the Coleman Co. in Wichita, and then was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Newton and Yates Center until the office closed. She then worked at the District Court and the Woodson County Conservation Office until retirement.She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Kalida Club, Star Valley Extension unit for nearly 50 years and served numerous years on the 4-H Extension council.She loved to read, quilt and knit.On Aug. 8, 1953, she married Veryl Zaring in Manhattan. He died Dec. 2, 1990.Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Massoth, Yates Center, Mary Weber, Yates Center, and Nancy Kelley, LeRoy; and seven grandchildren.She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Hartenberger and Dorothy Urban; five brothers, Don, Earl, Harold, Pete and Paul Hartenberger; and a grandson, Samuel V. Kelley.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at the Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center. Burial will be in the Yates Center Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.Memorials are suggested to the Yates Center Library or the Veterans Memorial Wall Fund and may be left with the funeral home.Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center, is in charge of arrangements.
