Radefeld, Richard C

Richard C. Radefeld, age 82, passed away Tuesday morning at a Topeka hospital. Richard was born August 4, 1926 in Newton, KS the son of Emil and Esther Hartenberger Radefeld. He grew up in Newton graduating from Newton High School.
He married Pearl Jean Shelton May 5, 1954 in Paris, AR.
He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II and was stationed in the Pacific. Richard worked as a roofer in Topeka for Vincent Roofing. He received the 50 year plus pin in 2008 from the Roofers Local #20 Roofing Union from Kansas City, KS.
Survivors include his wife of over 55 years, Pearl Radefeld; a son, Dennis Lee Radefeld (Mary) both of Topeka; a daughter, Cathy Rake-Beeson (Don) of Tecumseh; six grandchildren, Carl Rake, DeWayne Rake, Mitchael Hupe, Angie Aldridge, Jennifer Voth and Jeremiah Voth and seven great grandchildren, Katareena Rake, Kyndall Rake, Ryan Rake, Zachary Rake, Allison Hupe, Jaelyn Voth and Griffin Powell.
Graveside services will be Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Penwell Gable Memorial Park Cemetery.
He will lie in state Wednesday from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
