Mary Maxine Quilty
Mary Maxine Quilty, 87, died
Sunday (Dec. 25, 2005) at Friendly Acres Retirement Community in Newton. She
was born June 26, 1918, to Melvin G. and Mary J. (Stevens) Palmer in Topeka.
They preceded her in death. She married Paul Frey June 23, 1941, in Newton. He
preceded her in death Oct. 24, 1948. She married Ambrose Quilty on May 14,
1955, in Newton. He preceded her in death Sept. 13, 1976. She was a homemaker most
of her life and provided child care for others in her home.
Mary Maxine was a member of
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and served on the Altar Society of the
church. She also held membership with the Ladies Veterans of Foreign Wars
Auxiliary of Newton.
Survivors include: a daughter
and son-in-law, Paulette (Frey) Devino and husband Vincent of Manchester, N.H.;
grandsons, Michael Malfitano of Watertown, Conn., and Patrick Malfitano of
Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in
death by brothers, Bill Palmer and Jack Palmer.
Visitation will be until 8
p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Recitation of the rosary
will be 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be 10
a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Floyd
McKinney officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's
Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials have been
established with Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Building Fund in care of
the funeral home.
