Eleanor J. Wedel
NEWTON - Eleanor Joyce Wedel, 82, died May 13, 2005, at Friendly Acres Retirement Community, Newton.
She was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Harvey County, the daughter of Herman S. and Christina Voran Wedel. She graduated in 1940, from Burns High School. She worked for the Bethel Deaconess Hospital in housekeeping for 10 years.
Survivors include: four brothers, Howard, Peabody, Wilmer, Elbing; Clarence, Burns, and Kenneth, Moundridge; and two sisters, Ruth Andres, Elbing, and Jane Entz, Newton.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley; and two sisters, Verna Regier and Elisabeth Regier.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Mennonite Church, with Pastor Bruce Bradshaw and Chaplain Karen Andres presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton. Burial will be in Zion Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Mennonite Central Committee or to Central Homecare and Hospice, both in care of the funeral home.
