Jack LaVern Grosse
Jack LaVern Grosse, 68, Grosse
Construction owner, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 19, 2008) at Wesley
Medical Center in Wichita.
Jack was born Jan. 28, 1940, in
Hillsboro to Kenneth L. and Martha (Bernhardt) Grosse.
He was a lifelong member of St. Paul
Lutheran Church in Peabody. Jack attended schools in Peabody and
graduated from Peabody High School in 1958. Following high school, he
attended Wichita Business College. In October 1959, he enlisted in
the Army. After basic training, he was stationed in the Panama Canal
zone. He was discharged in January 1961.
Upon his return from Panama, he worked
in the family dirt construction with his Uncle Tom Grosse.
Jack married Sharon K. Shepherd on July
21, 1962, in Newton. Two children were born to this union: Kenneth
LaVern and Julia Kay (Grosse) Ensminger.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sharon;
daughter, Julia Kay Ensminger; and two granddaughters, Taylor and
McKenzie Ensminger.
Jack was preceded in death by his son,
Kenneth LaVern; his parents, Kenneth and Martha Grosse; his brother,
Michael Grosse; and his granddaughter, Bailey Rae Ensminger.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m.
Thursday at Baker Funeral Home in Peabody, with family greeting
friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m.
Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Burial will be at Prairie Lawn Cemetery
in Peabody.
