Alice E. Sills
Alice E. Sills, 87, 1229 Manchester, homemaker, died Monday (March 17, 1997) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born on Aug. 25, 1909, in Marion County to John N. and Minnie Watchecoshe Friday. She married Jesse M. Sills on July 16, 1927, in Hutchinson. He died Dec. 7, 1993.
She worked as a waitress at the Harvey House, Wayside Cafe, Corner Lunch, and the Cedar Village Cafe. She also was employed at Randy's Meat Company, all of Newton.
Survivors include one son, John Sills of Newton, one daughter, Alice Miller of Newton; one sister, Virginia Miles of Marion; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Rogers and Gertrude Love.
Funeral service will be 2 p. m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Grove from Salem United Methodist Church of Newton officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. until service time on Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Memorials may be sent to Caring Home Health Agency of Friendly Acres, in care of the funeral home.
