Kathern Ulah Pilling

Kathern Ulah Pilling, 86, died Saturday (Feb. 18, 2006) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. She was born Sept. 20, 1919, to Walter Eugene and Lena Inell (Brownawell) Yates in Larned. They preceded her in death. She married Clayton H. Pilling. He preceded her in death June 15, 1995. Kathern graduated from Offerle High School and the Hutchinson School of Business. She was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad from 1942 to 1954 as a train order and teletype operator. Kathern was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Newton and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Newton.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Gale.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Farmington Cemetery in Macksville.

Memorials have been established with Kansas Christian Home in care of the funeral home.
