Floyd 'Gus' Stamback, 89
Floyd 'Gus' Stamback 89 years old, passed away in the sleep July 25, 2019, with his wife Pat at his side,
due to a number of medical problems.
Gus was the second son of William and Shelby Stamback,born on Oct. 6, 1929 in Kansas.
He married his high school sweetheart, Pat Cutting, on Sept. 4, 1949 (missing their anniverary by 40 days).
Gus was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in Germany in 1953. Gus always loved being with friends, playing cards,
(His favorite was Bridge. He was known as "Mr. No Trump.") He enjoyed fishing, reading, and sewing and decorating tees
and sweatshirts.
Gus was a singer in the choaliers for 24 years here at Superstition Sunrise, and also in the church choir.
In 1989, they retired and traveled in their RV to Arizona, where the have lived for 30 year. They spent 17 summers fishing for Pacific salmon in Oregon. He was a great fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Everette Stamback, sister Carolyn Rodgers, son Thomas George Stamback, in-laws Jim and Margaret Cutting.
He is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Susan, Ray Abrams Jr., and sister Betty Grier, Sister-in-law Betty Grier, sister
Martha Stamback, two sister-in-laws and families Virgiland Peggy Baxter of Bentley, Jerry and Paula Sutter of Bakersfield , California, four granddaughters
Megan, Tricia, Anna and Miesha and many nieces and Nephews.
A memorial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct 3 at Bentley Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Gus was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
