John G. Toews
HESSTON - John G. Toews, 69,
of Hesston died Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2007) at Via Christi Regional Medical
Center-St. Francis campus in Wichita.
He was born May 8, 1937, in
Harvey County to John H. and Martha (Krehbiel) Toews. He was a lifetime area
resident and graduated from Moundridge High School in 1955.
He was a farmer-stockman and
a retired 43-year employee at Hesston Corp./Hay and Forage and belonged to West
Zion Mennonite Church in Moundridge.
On Sept. 14, 1958, he married
Dorothy F. Bickel in La Junta, Colo. She survives.
Other survivors include:
three sons, John D. Toews of Moundridge, Bill Toews of Halstead and Duane Toews
of Leonardville; a brother, George Toews of Canton; two sisters, Sharron Kemph
of Arkansas City and Bonnie Claassen of Topeka; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and a sister, Hattie Smith.
Friends may call from 2 to 8
p.m. Sunday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moundridge Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at
10:30 a.m. Monday at West Zion Mennonite Church in Moundridge with Pastors John
and Marcia Yoder-Schrock and the Rev. Harold Thieszen officiating.
Burial will be in West Zion
Church Cemetery in rural Moundridge.
Memorial contributions may be
made to the John Toews Memorial 4-H Livestock Award Fund in care of the funeral
home.
