Loren C. Bergquist
Loren C. Bergquist, 83, of
Newton, died Tuesday (Feb. 6, 2007) at Asbury Park Healthcare in Newton.
He was born April 2, 1923, in
Oliver to Carl Swen and Dona (Lamond) Bergquist. On Oct. 11, 1947, he married
Leah J. Lawless in Osage City. She preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2004.
Loren was a member of St.
Mary's Catholic Church. He served his country during World War II in the U.S.
Navy C.B.s. He was a retired machinist for Hay and Forage and also worked for
the Harvey County Parks Department. Loren enjoyed spending time with his family
and going on car rides. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors.
Survivors include: sons,
Rodney Bergquist of Osage City, Robert Bergquist of Holton and Ray Bergquist of
Moundridge; daughters, Suzie Woelk, Jeanne Drake and Becky Noble, all of
Newton; sisters, Nadine Hammond of Topeka and Kathy Whalen of Osage City; 16
grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
his parents.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Recitation of the Holy
Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Family will receive
friends following the ceremony.
Services will be at 10:30
a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton with the Rev. Jim Mainzer
of the church officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in
Newton.
Memorial contributions may be
made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and Asbury Park Greenhouse Project in care
of the funeral home.
