Melvin M. Friesen
Melvin M. Friesen, 62, insurance agent
and retired farmer, died Wednesday (June 5, 2002) in Topeka.
He was born May 26, 1940, to Henry and
Louise (Isaac) Friesen in Aberdeen, Idaho. They preceded him in
death. He married Judy Graber June 15, 1963. She survives of Newton.
He graduated from Aberdeen High School
and Bethel College. He was an active member of Bethel College
Mennonite Church in North Newton, the Kansas Mennonite Men's Chorus
and the Wheat Heritage Engine and Threshing Company of Goessel. He
was a former Rotarian.
Other survivors include: two sons, Mark
Friesen of Newton and Myron Friesen of Seattle; four brothers, Vernon
Friesen of Manhattan, Donald Friesen of Bellevue, Wash., Jim Friesen
of Aberdeen, Idaho, and Larry Friesen of Henderson, Neb.; a twin
sister, Mildred Schmidt of Custer, Wash.; and a granddaughter, Lucy
Friesen of Newton.
He also was preceded in death by a
brother, Leo Friesen.
Memorial service was Monday at Bethel
College Mennonite Church with Heidi Regier Kreider and Paul Isaac
officiating.
Private family graveside service was in
Greenwood Cemetery with Steven Yoder officiating.
Memorials have been established with
Kansas Mennonite Men's Chorus and the Mennonite Central Committee,
both in care of the funeral home.
