Matthew S. Deering
WALTON - Matthew S. Deering, 35, died
Friday (March 24, 2006) in rural Marion County.
He was born Aug. 11, 1970, to Sam and
Janice (Glenn) Deering in Newton.
He attended First United Methodist
Church in Newton. Matt was an honorably discharged Army veteran. He
belonged to the National Rifle Association. Matt enjoyed spending
time hunting and fishing and outdoor activities. He greatly enjoyed
spending time with his daughters who he loved very much.
Survivors include: father and
stepmother, Sam and Teresa Deering of Wichita; a companion, Amy
Spangler of Walton; first wife, Christie Horn of Newton; second wife,
Tiffany Goodall of Hesston; daughters, Ashley Deering and Meghan
Deering, both of Newton, and Caitlin Deering of Hesston;
stepbrothers, Jeff Ostlund of Mount Hope and Jim Ostlund of
Moundridge; a half sister, Molly Deering of Wichita; a stepsister,
Melinda Ferguson of Newton; a stepfather, Ron Ostlund of Walton;
Amy's children, Ashley and Cody Koehn; and an uncle, Don Glenn of
Wichita.
He was preceded in death by: his
mother, Janice Ostlund; a paternal grandmother, Guyola Deering; and
maternal grandparents, Jerry and Lola Glenn.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at
Petersen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Nathan Morgan of First United
Methodist Church officiating.
There will be a private family
inurnment.
Memorials have been established with
Kansas Wildlife and Parks in care of the funeral home.
