Sam M. Smith
MONTEZUMA-- Sam M. Smith, 79, Bethel Home, died Thursday at the Dodge City Regional Hospital after a long illness.
Born April 25, 1900, at Fairview Okla., he married Susie A. Unruh June 19, 1921 at Halstead.
He was a member of the Salem Valley Mennonite Church, north of Copeland. A retired farmer and mechanic, he had lived in the Salem Valley Community, Gray County, for many years.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, of the Bethel Home; three sons, Vernon R. Ulysses, Ervie I., Dodge City and Milton L., Dodge City; six daughters,  Mrs. Pearl Koehn, Cimarron, Mrs. Irene Unruh, Copeland, Mrs. Viola Koehn, Montezuma, Mrs. Verda Mae Koehn, Ulysses, Mrs. Frances Harms, Bonners Ferry, Idaho and Mrs. Doris Friesen, Perrinton, Mich.; four brothers, August, Deridder, La., Fred, Winton, Calif., Ernest, Newton and Martin, Arizona; four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Koehn, Fairview, Okla., Mrs. Opal Koch, Arizona and Mrs. Florence Willis, Buhler; 38 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a. m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Cecil Unruh officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Friends may call until Monday morning at the Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette. Family suggests memorials to the Bethel Home. Contributions may be left with the funeral home.
