Birdene 'Birdie' Root
WHITEWATER - Birdene "Birdie"
Root, 95, died Sunday (April 29, 2007) at Wheat State Manor in
Whitewater.
She was born on April 19, 1912, in
Potwin to William and Mamie (Cornelius) Edwards.
Survivors include a son, Larry Root of
Hutchinson; and a granddaughter, Justina Sebrant of Tacoma, Wash; and
numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, her husband, Clarence Root; a son, Leo Root; a daughter,
Lorretta Barcom; a sister, Jessie Elting-Swart; brothers, Orlan
Edwards; Charlie Edwards; Lewis Edwards; and Lawrence Edwards.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home with family present from 6:30 to 8
p.m.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at
Furley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Sample officiating.
Burial will be at Whitewater Cemetery in Whitewater.
Memorials may be made to Furley United
Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
