Francisca Ileana Aquino
Guillen, 78, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2007) at Asbury Park in Newton.
She was born Oct. 10, 1928,
in Jatibonico, Del Norte, Cuba, to Eugenio and Roselia (Valdes) Aquino.
She married Manuel Guillen in
Havana, Cuba. He preceded her in death.
Ileana was a resident of
Asbury Park for two years, moving from La Puente, Calif.
She was a talented artist who
painted mannequins early in her career. She also painted many oil paintings
through the years, which she sold or gave to her many friends and family. Ileana
greatly enjoyed collecting elephant figurines and spending time with her loving
daughter.
Survivors include a daughter,
Alina Aimee Guillen-Jones; son in-law Dale Jones of Hesston; a brother, Armando
Aquino of Esperia, Calif.; a sister, Ofelia Manconi of Los Angeles.; a brother,
Rene Aquino of Connecticut; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her parents and a brother, Machin Aquino.
Visitation will be from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
The funeral service will be
at 10 a.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Peter Hartman
of Hospice Care of Kansas officiating.
There will be a private
family burial.
