Mary R. Tafolla
Mary R. Tafolla, 82, died
Thursday (Feb. 15, 2007) at her residence in Newton.
She was born Sept. 25, 1924,
in Newton, to Felix and Anastasia (Ramirez) Romero. She married Henry C.
Tafolla, who preceded her in death in 1996. She was a homemaker and also worked
at Bethel Clinic as a lab technician. She was a member of Our Lady Guadalupe
Church in Newton. Mary greatly enjoyed traveling and had been to several
European countries as well as all over the United States. She looked forward to
spending summers at their Colorado cabin. She dearly loved her many family and
friends and enjoyed cooking and caring for them. She will be remembered as a
loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and dear
friend.
Survivors include a son, John
Tafolla of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Robert and Gloria Tafolla of Phoenix,
Ariz.; a son, Ralph and Sandy Tafolla of Cripple Creek, Colo.; a son Chris and
Maggie Tafolla of Trevor-Woolery, Wash.; a son, Vincent and Sharon Tafolla of
Indianapolis; a daughter, Judy and Paul Fransen of Newton; daughter Rita and
John Hysom of Newton; a daughter, Madeline and Craig Wray of Newton; a
daughter, Marianne Craig Smith of Dallas; a sister, Matilda Curiel of
Hutchinson; a sister, Margaret Montenegro of Wichita; 27 grandchildren; 36
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in
death by her parents, brothers, John Romero, Pete Romero, Florentino Romero and
Morris Romero and a sister Katherine Guzman.
Visitation will be from 5 to
8 p.m. Saturday at Petersen Funeral Home. Recitiation of The Holy Rosary will
be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Father Floyd
McKinney leading.
Family will have a private
service with the Rev. McKinney officiating.
Memorial contributions may be
made to Hospice Care of Kansas in care of the Funeral home.
