Roy R. Schroeder
Roy R. Schroeder, 84, died on
Friday (Feb. 16, 2007) at Select Specialty Hospital of St. Francis, Wichita.
He was born on Sept. 26,
1922, to Martha (Knak) and Peter Schroeder in Hillsboro. He married Jean Bartel
on June 2, 1951, in Hillsboro. She preceded him in death.
He was a member of the
Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren in Newton. He served in the
U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant. He retired from Southwestern
Bell as a supervisor.
Survivors include a daughter,
Lori (Schroeder) McCoy and husband Monty of Wichita; a daughter-in-law, Mary
Schroeder of Franklin, Pa.; a sister, Vera Sills and husband John of Newton; a
brother, Harold Schroeder and wife Sharon of Wichita; a brother, Earl Schroeder
and wife Melba of Wichita; a brother, Jim Schroeder and wife Beth of Wichita; a
sister-in-law, Delores Schroeder of Newton; grandchildren, Justin and Megan
Keely of Franklin, Pa., Devon Keely of North Carolina, Jordan McCoy and Tiffany
Wood of Wichita, Nick McCoy and wife Brandi of Wichita, Tim McCoy of Vail,
Colo., and Daniel Mailey; and great-grandchildren, Brayden and Kylie Wood, and
Kaden and Tegan Keely.
He also was preceded in death
by his parents, a son, Mark R. Schroeder; a daughter, Terri D. Schroeder; a
brother, Clarence Schroeder; sisters, Esther Sidener, Bernice Schroeder and
Vella Vogt.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to
9 p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. Family will greet
friends 5 to 7 p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m.
on Tuesday at Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren. Burial will be
at Greenwood Cemetery.

made to American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
