Robert Sandoval Sr.
Robert Sandoval Sr., 91, died
Monday (Feb. 19, 2007) in Wichita.
He was born May 15, 1915, in
Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Luis and Isabel Sandoval. On Sept. 19, 1936, he
married Juana Ortiz in El Paso, Texas. She died July 6, 1983. On Aug. 1, 1987,
he married Hope Lujano in Newton. She survives at home.
Robert and his wife Juana
moved from El Paso, Texas, in 1956. He was very talented and skilled with his
hands and was able to work many jobs. He worked for Rhodes Construction before
retiring with the city of Newton. He will be remembered as a loving father and
grandfather.
Survivors include his wife,
Esperanza (Hope) Sandoval of Newton; sons, Ruben and Robert Sandoval Jr. of
Newton; daughter, Cruz (Sandoval) Martinez of Independence; a daughter, Rosa
(Sandoval) Gonzales of Nickerson; a daughter, Annie (Sandoval) Castor of
Wichita; a daughter, Bertha (Sandoval) Lowmaster of Buckeye, Ariz.; a daughter,
Margie (Sandoval) Titus of Newton; a daughter, Irma (Sandoval) Unruh of Newton;
stepsons, Louis W., Robert J. and Richard S. Lujano; stepdaughter, Mary E.
Navarro; four nephews; three nieces; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren;
and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
wife, Juana, his parents, sons, Carlos, Jessie, Betito and Raul Sandoval, a
brother, Arturo Sandoval, and a niece, Isabel Armenderez.
Visitation will be from 2 to
9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral
Home in Newton. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Catholic Church.
Service will be at 10 a.m.
Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Floyd McKinney
officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial contributions may be
made to Hospice Care of Kansas in care of the funeral home.
