Edna K. Prouty
Edna K. Prouty, 79, died
Sunday (Feb. 5, 2006) at Newton Presbyterian Manor. She was born Oct. 20, 1926,
to Frank P. and Anna K. (Kluge) Smith in Newton. They preceded her in death.
She married DeSales Carney in 1944, and he preceded her in death. She married
Atchison T. Prouty in 1954, and he also preceded her in death. Edna was a
homemaker, and she enjoyed embroidery work, cooking and caring for her yard.
Survivors include: a son, Frank W. Carney; a daughter, Rosemary Wilson; a
brother, Frank J. Smith of Newton; a sister, Elizabeth Partridge of Hutchinson;
several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in
death by brothers, Charles A. Smith and Edward F. Smith.
Visitation will be from 1 to
5 p.m. today and from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be 2
p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Mainzer of St.
Mary's Catholic Church officiating.
Memorials have been
established with St. Mary's Catholic Church and Newton Presbyterian Manor, both
in care of the funeral home.
