Lois G. Fenton
HESSTON - Lois G. Fenton, 83,
nurse, died Saturday (Feb. 11, 2006) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. She was
born April 23, 1922, to Levi Glen and Leona Maude (Detweiler) Kanagy in
Bellefontaine, Ohio. She married Walter Fenton Dec. 15, 1953, in Hesston. He
survives of Hesston. She was a member of Whitestone Mennonite Church. Lois was
a retired nurse who graduated from La Junta, Colo., Nursing School and Hesston
College. She worked as a school nurse at Hesston College and in Philadelphia,
Mo. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, bird-watching, reading, volunteering at
libraries and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a long-time member
of PeaRidge Mennonite Church of Philadelphia, Mo., and a recent member of
Whitestone Mennonite Church of Hesston.
Other survivors include:
sons, Curt and Sarah of Tremont, Ill., Glen of McPherson, Willard Fenton-Miller
and Kathy of Marcellus, Mich., Dwayne and Mariann of Indianapolis and Joe and
Annette of Hesston; a daughter, Joanna Fenton Friesen and Gregg of Newton; a
brother, Paul Kanagy and Louella of Chesterville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Mary
Clark of Philadelphia, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by:
a son, Wesley; and a sister, Janice Spitzer.
Family will greet friends
from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Schowalter Villa Chapel.
Memorial service will be 11
a.m. Saturday at Whitestone Mennonite Church in Hesston with Pastors Mark
Miller and Wendy Miller officiating.
A cremation has taken place;
there will be no burial.
