Harry W. Eilert
FURLEY - Eilert, Harry W, 91,
longtime resident of Furley, Kansas, died Feb. 20, 2006. He was the son of
Alice and Ed Eilert, Harry, attended Furley Grade School and Whitewater High
School, and on April 21, 1935 married Viola Baker. Viola preceded him in death
in June 1979. He married Mary Tallman Dec. 22, 1984. She also preceded him in
death, Dec. 2002. A member of Furley United Methodist Church, he served on the
board of trustees for many years. He was an active member of the community,
serving as a 4-H leader, a Red Cross Volunteer and board member of the Green
Valley Cemetery. A few years after his retirement in 1983 from the Andale Coop,
in Furley, he and Mary moved to Newton to an apartment at the Kansas Christian
Home, where he resided until his death. Also preceded in death by a son Bobby
Dean, son-in-law Wilbur Berg, sister Mildred Baker and two grandchildren Wade
Eilert & Nancy Heussner. Survivors are twin brother, Harold and wife Thelma
of Furley, KS; children Mary Berg, Garfield, Ark, Harry Jr and wife Aline of
Sedalia, Mo, Harriett and husband John Shaw of Columbia, So. Carolina, and
daughter-in-law Judy Eilert of Furley, KS.Nine grandchildren, thirteen great
grandchildren and one great great grandson. Service will be Friday, Feb. 24,
2006, 10:30a.m. at the Federated Church, Whitewater, Kansas. Burial will follow
at the Green Valley Cemetery, Furley, KS. Memorials: Federated Church and
