Arthur L. Kaiser
Arthur L. Kaiser, 94, retired
auto mechanic and bee keeper, died Friday (Feb. 24, 2006) at Newton Medical
Center. He was born Jan. 11, 1912, to Peter and Elsie Spaete Kaiser Wantland in
Newton. He married Helen Sarah Nachtigal Feb. 14, 1940, in Newton. She preceded
him in death in 1977. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, sang in
the choir for 32 years, was a former elder of the church and served on many
church committees. The church was a significant part of his life. For fun, he
played with the local band "The Blow Hards" and "The Barbershop
Chorus." Music was an important part of his life.
He enjoyed bowling with the
church bowling league and was an avid gardener. He loved to work on engines and
"tinker" with anything mechanical. The study and care of bees was a
great love of his, and he was called on many occassions to remove hives of bees
from homes in the area.
He spent the last six years
in Friendly Acres/Asbury Park care center. He loved the people and the care
that was given to him.
Survivors include: a
daughter, Sandra (Kaiser) Larson and husband, Ron, of Newton; a son, the Rev.
Dayl Kaiser and wife, Mary Lu, of Bethany, Okla., four grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death
by a brother, Harold Kaiser, and a sister, Viola James.
Visitation will be will be
until 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home with family greeeting friends from
6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be 2
p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James W. Anderson
officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood
Cemetery.
Memorials have been
established with the First Presbyterian Church music fund in care of the
funeral home.
