Frank S. Quiring
Frank S. Quiring, 78, died
Feb. 23, 2006 in Orlando, Fla.
He was born Sept. 2, 1927, to
Henry and Helen Quiring. He graduated from Newton High School in 1945 and
Bethel College in 1950. He married Evelyn Wiebe of Whitewater Aug. 16, 1950.
Frank was a high school
chemistry teacher for nearly 40 years. His teaching career took him from
Coldwater, Pretty Prairie and Wyandotte high schools in Kansas to Clayton high
schools in suburban St. Louis, where he taught for 30 years.
He earned his master's degree
from The University of Kansas. He also spent more than 20 summers as the
director of the laboratory program at the National Science Foundation summer
programs for advance placement chemistry teachers at Hope College in Holland,
Mich.
He had received a variety of
professional honors, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science
Teaching.
Survivors include: his wife,
Evelyn of North Newton; four children; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and a brother.
Memorial service will be 2
p.m. Saturday at Bethel College Mennonite Church.
