Phyllis Dency Romig
Phyllis Dency Romig, 92, died Saturday (May 5, 2007) at
Asbury Park Healthcare in Newton.
She was born on March 15, 1915, in Green Ridge. Mo., to
Daniel Roy and Phyllis McCampbell. They preceded her in death. On Jan. 7, 1937,
she married Earl Romig in Windsor, Mo. They lived in Hoisington, Sedaia, Mo.,
Windsor, Mo., and Newton. Earl worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and
Dency was a homemaker as well as an employee for a flower shop and
photographer.
She was a crafts person and enjoyed canning, quilting and
crocheting. They attended varied United Methodist Churches. Earl and Dency
moved to Newton in 1999 and Earl died shortly after the move.
She resided at Asbury Park where she enjoyed her crafts, and
watching court related television. She was practical minded and a reserved
person. She enjoyed being a grandmother and loved her family.
She was in good health until March 2007 when she fell and
never fully recovered. She will be missed by her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis and Tom Schneider of
Hesston; sister, Anna Hite Skinner of Bellevue, Neb.; sister-in-law, Betty
McCampbell of Marshall, Mo.; sister-in-law, Louise Burligame of Sedalia, Mo.;
sister-in-law, Letha Romig of Pilot Grove, Mo.; sister-in-law, Lilith Romig of
Plumas Lake, Calif.; grandson, Steve and Nancy Schneider of Bucklin; grandson,
Jonathan Schneider and fiance, Dedre Smith of Liberal; great grandchildren,
Ashlee and Scott Schneider.
She was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen
Funeral Home.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hesston United
Methodist Church in Hesston with the Rev. Phillip Fischer and the Rev. Rick
Saylor officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington City Cemetery in Hosington.
