Mosier, William 'Bill'

The Newton Kansan

William 'Bill' Mosier

William "Bill" Mosier, 78, died Monday (May 7, 2007) at his residence in North Newton.

He was born Feb. 3, 1929, to Earl F. and Zora M. (Scott) Mosier at Crestline. They precede him in death.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later worked as a railroader. He held varied jobs with the railroad throughout his career.

He married Eveanna Jarchow on Jan. 11, 1980, at First Baptist Church in Wichita. She survives in the home.

He was a member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church and the Lions Club. He faithfully served with Meals on Wheels for more than 15 years.

He had many hobbies. He enjoyed square dancing, bird watching, travel, flower and tree identification and Elder Hostel classes. He was excellent with woodworking. He helped with several projects for the church, built several homes and many small projects for others.

He was especially proud of his yard. He landscaped it and was recommended for the 2003 yard tour. As his health failed and he could no longer work in the yard he would go outside and "measure" the growth of his plants.

Mosier had an extended illness. He was loved by family and will be missed greatly by them.

He is also survived by daughters, Jane Sibley of Chanute and Kara Reynolds of Wichita; sons, Joseph Mosier of Udall and Kelly Mosier of Hutchinson; sister, Mary Lou Rader of Connecticut; stepson, Tracy Jarchow of Phoenix; stepdaughters, Nancy Hostetler of West Liberty, Ohio, and Mitzie Eddins of Lenexa; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He is also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Baugh and grandson Willie Edwards.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church with the Rev. Phillip Fischer officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in rural Newton.

Memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
