Jane Owczarzak
Jane Owczarzak, 67, passed
away peacefully after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer and MS.
She was raised in Newton and
attended the University of Kansas where she majored in journalism. A life-long
supporter of the Jayhawks, she used her journalism degree along with her
teaching credential to teach English and journalism at Leland High School for
25 years. She received many honors during her teaching career and was the
advisor for an award winning newspaper at Leland.
She loved life in spite of
many hardships. She loved her family and friends, teaching, traveling, Trinity
Presbyterian Church (where she was a Deacon and sang in the choir), the
"Red Hot Society", Jayhawk basketball, but especially Lake Tahoe. She
was happiest entertaining at 'the cabin" and touring guests around Tahoe.
She will be remembered for her determination to make the most of life and for
her love and friendship for those around her.
Survivors include her husband
of 35 years, Frank Owczarzak of San Jose, Calif,; her daughter, Holly Tiche and
Sandor; her son Grady Owczarzak; and her grandchildren, Dirk, Nicholas and
Sarah Jane. She is also survived be her brother, Lewis Boyd and wife Ruth and
William Boyd and wife Rhonda, along with many nieces and nephews.
Service will be at 11 a.m.
Saturday at Trinity Presbyterian Church in San Jose, Calif.
In lieu of flowers memorials
may be made to a favorite charity in Jane's honor.
