Marjorie Faye (Huey) Odom,
77, of Newton passed away Friday (May 25, 2007) at Kansas Christian Home In
Newton.
She was born on Jan. 11,
1930, in Muskogee, Okla. to Daniel F. and L. Jewel (Hughes) Huey. She grew up
in parts of Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas. She spent a good part of her teen years
in Lincolnville, before moving to Newton to raise her children and
granddaughter.
She worked 41 years as an
assembly worker at Beechcraft, retiring in 1992. She loved spicy foods and in
her spare time enjoyed gardening, shopping with her sisters, listening to
classic country music and spoiling her great-grandchildren. What she will be
remembered for most is that she dedicated her life to her children.
Survivors include sons, Danny
of Shawnee, Okla., Jim of Newton and Steve of Alford, Fla.; daughter, Linda
Pursley of Newton; granddaughter, Vanessa Busby of Newton; sisters, Dolores
McCandless, Wanda Werts-Essig; and Danny Moyer all of Wichita; eight additional
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, and two sisters, Mildred Verhage and Janice Huey.
Service will be at 3 p.m.
Friday at Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita.
