Helga R. Schmidt
Helga R. Schmidt, 61, died
Friday (June 1, 2007) at her home in Newton. She was born on Oct. 31, 1945, in
Osterberg Germany. The adopted daughter of John and Elisabeth Klassen, she came
to the United States in 1952 at the age of 6. On July 21, 1962, she married
Archie J. Schmidt. He survives at home. She was a homemaker and a register
nurse. She loved animals and the outdoors. She loved gardening, collecting
dolls and watching the birds. Survivors include daughters, Lisa and Doug
Duerksen of Goessel, Valorie and Eric Everhart of Salina, and Cammie and Max
Van Arsdale of Buhler; a brother, Horst Schwarz of Germany; sisters, Gerda,
Margot, Margaret and Olga all of Germany; seven grandchildren; and two
step-grandchilren.
She was preceded in death by
her parents and a grandson, Dylan Everhart.
Service will be at 11 a.m.
Tuesday at Highland Trinity United Church of Christ in rural Newton with the
Rev. Sheree Boman officiating. A private family burial will be at Highland
Cemetery in rural Newton.
