Mary E. Trego
Mary E. Trego, 88, died
Tuesday (June 26, 2007) at Newton Medical Center. She was born on Aug. 26,
1918, in Stonington, Colo., to Thomas W. and Lena (Consamus) Driver. She
transferred from the Dodge City Montgomery Ward's to the Newton location. While
working at Montogomery Wards, she met fellow employee Allen Trego. They married
in 1939 and had five children. She settled in Newton in 1936. She was a
graduate of St. Mary's of The Plains High School, and she also attended classes
at Wichita State University in Wichita. She was employed by Rhodes Construction
for 26 years and also worked for Midland National Bank.
She was a member of St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Newton, St. Mary's Catholic Church Alter Society and
Daughters of Isabelle, all of Newton. She was a member of National Secretaries
Association and had served as the past president.
Survivors include a daughter,
Jean Childs of McPherson; a son, Allen T. Trego of Hampshire, Ill; daughters,
Jeanette Moore of Bushton and Carol S. Trego of Wichita; a brother, Dr. Thomas
Driver of Lakewood, Colo.; a sister, Sister M. Thomasine Driver of Wichita;
son-in-law, Paul Caffrey of Mount Hope; 13 grandchildren; 27
great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; a daughter, Mary Ann Caffrey; and a grandson, Billy Moore.
Visitation will be from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m.
today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m.
Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. James Mainzer officiating.
Private burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick.
