Charles W. Gunnels
GODDARD - Charles W. Gunnels,
79, died Wednesday (June 27, 2006) at his residence in Goddard. He was born on
Dec. 15, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo., to George Washington and Sarah Aileen
(McComb) Gunnels. On Sept. 17, 1949, he married Lillian Eck in Newton. She
survives at home. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired
dentist with practices in Mulvane and Cheney. He enjoyed coin collecting and
doing crossword puzzles. Survivors include sons, George M. Gunnels of
Phoenix and Glenn E. Gunnels
of Wichita; daughters, Grace E. McConnell of Valley Center and Ginnette K.
Gunnels of Goddard; a brother Clifton Gunnels of Great Bend; five
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and a brother Lawrence Gunnels.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with family present from 6:30
to 9 p.m.
Service will be at 11 a.m.
Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton with the Rev. Floyd McKinney
officiating. Military graveside honors will be provided by the U. S. Navy.
