John J. Harrington
John J. Harrington, 80, of Hesston, died this morning, May 4, at the Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
Harrington was a retired farmer.
He was born March 19, 1909, at Alva, Okla., the son of Edward and Margaret Banks Harrington. He grew up in Alva. On Oct. 10, 1935, he married Minnie D. Rea. They moved to Geneva in 1955 and then to Iola in 1977. They had made their home in Hesston since September 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie; a son, Johnny L. Harrington of Manhattan; a daughter, Teresa Kuestersteffen, Hesston; a brother, Bill Harrington of Glendale, Calif.; two sisters, Hannah Harrington and Marguerite Ring, both of Alva; and six grandchildren.
The funeral Mass will be 10:30 a. m. Saturday at St. John's Parish Center, 715 S. Jefferson. The Rev. Robert Pepe will officiate. Interment will be in the Colony Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p. m. Friday in the Waugh-Yokum Chapel, 16 N. Buckeye.
A memorial has been established with St. John's Catholic Church.
