1950 - 2020
Richard "Dick" Verschelden,
70, died on December 14, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.
He was born July 17, 1950, in
Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Ernest and Josephine (Newton)
Verschelden. He was raised in Peabody and attended Peabody-Burns High

Richard loved spending time with
family, particularly his grandchildren. He took every chance to spend
time with them.
Richard could always be found out in
the yard working, gardening, and making things with Liam. He was
never afraid of hard work and would often go help his best friend
Fred out on the farm. Richard was an avid Chiefs fan and was excited
to watch them win the 2020 SuperBowl.

Verschelden; sons, Brian Verschelden and Jason Avants; daughter,
Bonnie (Ryan) Garcia; 9 grandchildren; brother, Jim (Pat)
Verschelden; and sister, Marilyn (Edward) Church. He was preceded in
death by his parents.
