Louise A. Newmaster, 100, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Ottumwa,
died April 6, 2020 in Colorado Springs. She was born January 13, 1920 in
Walton, Kansas to Frank and Gertrude Rielman Brandewiede. She married
Walter Newmaster April 7, 1945 in Wichita, Kansas. He preceded her in
death January 11, 2003.
A graduate of Newton High School, Newton,
KS, Louise was a homemaker. She was a voracious reader and avid bridge
player and golfer. She was an active member of St. Patrick and St. Mary
of the Visitation parishes where she was active in the PTA, Altar and
Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters. She served as a member of the
board of directors of St. Joseph Hospital and was a longtime Hospice
volunteer. She was a huge Iowa Hawkeyes football fan.
She is
survived by 3 sons, Thomas Newmaster of Ada, OK, Robert Newmaster of
Harlingen, TX, and Gregory Newmaster of Cedar Rapids, IA; a daughter,
Janel Timmins of Colorado Springs, CO; 6 grandchildren; 7
great-grandchildren; a brother Robert Brandewiede of Hutchinson, KS and a
sister in law Mary V. Mitchell of North Bend, OR.
She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Anderson, Burnette Norman and Barbara Yager.
A funeral service in Ottumwa will be held at a later date. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
