Richard Lee Stucky
1942 - 2021
Richard Lee Stucky, 78, passed away
December 30, 2020 at Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, Kansas City,
Missouri, due to complications of Leukemia and COVID. He was born
March 31, 1942, at home to Willard W. and Verna (Krehbiel) Stucky,
Moundridge, Kansas.
He received his education at Pleasant
Ridge and Pioneer Grade Schools and graduated from Moundridge High
School with the class of 1960. December 1960 to September 1961
Richard served with the I-W Service project in Denver, Colorado.
Upon confession of faith, Richard was
baptized on May 25, 1958, by Rev. Arnold Nickel and joined Eden
Mennonite Church.
Richard was united in marriage to Betty
Jo Albrecht on June 2, 1961 at Bethany Mennonite Church, Kingman,
Kansas. After completing his term with I-W Service, Richard and Betty
moved to a farm near Murdock, Kansas, for a couple of years before
moving into Kingman, Kansas, where Richard worked for the Kingman
Newspaper. In 1970 they moved to rural Moundridge and Richard worked
for United Printing, Newton Kansas for approximately 10 years,
trucked mobile homes cross-country for 3 years, and farmed family
ground until retirement. July 2012 Richard and Betty moved to
Independent Living at Pine Village.
Richard "didn't know a stranger"
and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with anyone and everyone. A visit to
Wal-Mart, would find Rich sitting on a bench at the front door
visiting with a "new friend", while Betty was shopping. He
enjoyed fishing, traveling and camping with their RV, attending
Southern Gospel Music Concerts, and tinkering in his shop. He was
very interested in history and family genealogy which led him to
serve as a board member for Swiss Mennonite Cultural and Historical
Association where he spent many hours maintaining local historical
landmarks.
He is survived by wife, Betty, of
Moundridge, sons Richard Jr.(Nicki) of Alta Vista, Kansas and Peter
(Sukwon) of Boise, Idaho, daughter Sandy Davis of Gypsum, Kansas;
grandchildren Dustin Stucky of Wichita, Kansas, Susie Stucky of
Boise, Idaho, Sierra (Chandler) Burris of Wichita, Kansas, Jade
Yianakopulos of Gypsum, Kansas, Taygen Yianakopulos of Kipp, Kansas,
Alaina Yianakopulos of Gypsum, Kansas; great grandchildren Mason and
Sebastion Stucky; brother Robert (Cheryl) Stucky; niece Meredith
(Matt) Kauffman, nephews Joshua (Tricia) and Tyler (Kristen) Stucky.
Richard is preceded in death by his
parents, daughter Lisa Stucky, daughter-in-law Dawn Stucky,
