Carolyn Jean (Youk) Schmidt
1940 - 2020
Carolyn Jean Youk Schmidt passed away
peacefully at home in Newton Kansas on December 26, 2020. She was
born to Leland Victor Youk and Lorene Keller Youk in Durham Kansas on
July 29,1940.
She married Leon Boyd Schmidt at the
Durham Lutheran Church in Durham Kansas on July 8, 1960 and recently
celebrated their 60th anniversary.
She grew up in Durham Kansas and worked
with her siblings, driving tractors and working the family farm.
Carolyn lived in multi cities/states during her life and each of her
kids were born in different states. Shawn was born in New Mexico,
Shelly in Texas and Brent in Louisiana. Leon and Carolyn moved back
to Kansas to retire in 1996. Carolyn has always been very proud of
all of her children and took much pride in being actively involved
with being a part of her grandkids lives.
Leaving behind to mourn her loss
includes husband Leon Boyd Schmidt, three children, daughters Shawn
Schmidt (John III) Goering of Keller Texas, Shelly (Joel) Reece of
Newton Kansas, son Brent (Alva) Schmidt of Coweta OK, 7 grandchildren
Mark Schmidt of Wichita Kansas, Brandon (Jackie) Schmidt of Porter
Ok, Destiny Schmidt (Dalton) Wilkinson of Coweta OK, Dustin Schmidt
of Turley OK, John Goering IV of Keller TX, Micah and Jeremiah, 5
great grandchildren Grayson, Brent, Clay, Mason and Maxwell. Sisters,
Shirley Carstens of Newton Kansas, Margie (JB) Geisler of Metairie
Louisiana, Sharon Kelsey of Marion Kansas, Vickie (Doug) Huxman of
Hillisboro, Laurie (Tom) Koslowsky of Hillsboro Kansas, sister in law
Betty Youk of Newton Kansas, brother in law Terry Shaw of Peabody,
Kansas and brother in law Bruce Martins of Marion Kansas and numerous
nieces/nephews.. Predeceased in death by her grand daughter Tiffany
Schmidt, brother Gaylen Youk, sister Linda Shaw, nephew Todd Shaw,
parents Leland Youk and Lorene Keller Youk, Great Grandparents Henry
and Amelia Youk, step father Harry Laubhan.
Carolyn spoke often of looking forward
to going to Heaven and told us multiple times to not to be sad when
her day to go to Heaven arrives. She wanted all of us to be happy
when God decided to bring her home. A celebration of life/memorial
will be held at Greenwood Cemetery/Newton Kansas on January 15th, at
11:00 AM.
